SPEAK is the kind of book that comes but
once in a decade -- perhaps once in a lifetime when the right reader finds
it at the right time.
Celebrate the tenth-year anniversary of this certain-to-be-a classic
in young adult literature. Leading our discussion will
be Frances
Bradburn, Chair of the first-ever Printz Award Committee ten years ago
that selected SPEAK as an Honor Book, and Michael
Cook, a young teacher
who made the bold choice to teach with the book and struck gold.
